Portland’s beloved weird celebrity, The Unipiper, is known for traveling around the city on his unicycle while wearing various costumes and playing tunes from his flame-throwing bagpipes. After becoming a fixture in the city, The Unipiper was ready to start a nonprofit—Weird Portland United (WPU)—dedicated to finding and supporting the weird people and places of Portland through Weird awards, Weird grants, Weird events, a registry of Weird historic places, and much more. He teamed up with Portland Brewing to make a new year-round beer called Unipiper Hazy IPA that not only kickstarted the nonprofit, but kept donation dollars coming in.

For the launch of WPU, Forest Green created and pitched stories highlighting the beer and nonprofit partnership, coordinated VIP and Weird Influencer invitations to the release party, and organized multiple photoshoots for media kits and social media. We built a partnership momentum plan to highlight WPU’s ongoing initiatives, which The Unipiper leveraged to members for additional support.
